Thanks for being here! Everyday Folkways is a local resource in support of everyday folks turning to skills and activities to meet their everyday needs. Every month, we host a project circle and publish this newsletter, connecting the community with skills, resources, and events.
What’s been going on:
As we do each month, the last Saturday of March we held a Project Circle at Nature Nurture. It’s simply a space to work on, learn, and share about projects and needs-meeting activities with and around others. There’s no agenda beyond just being BYO-project community space. Glad to meet a new face last month! See some of you this Saturday, April 25th. (Details below)
Over the last month, I’ve also gotten the chance to meet a few folks who are putting together some neat community spaces. Check out the details for one of those spaces in the image below! If you’re hungry for more, check out other “Community Resources and Events” at the bottom of this page. And if you or someone you know has a resource or community event that encourages making or doing to meet our needs, reach out! Lastly, here’s an update on what those starts from last month’s conversation with Julie are looking like – they’ve graduated to the outdoors! Notice the line of new little plant babes starting to come up in between. Here’s to using up the first row of greens by the time the new row is ready.
And then here’s another set of plants, a couple kinds of squash and some flour corn. They’re on my porch getting used to the sun and cool nights – “hardening off.” They spent their first night and full day outside yesterday, and I’ll be moving them into more direct sun over the next couple days before they go into the ground. Keeping my fingers crossed: the Farmer’s Almanac calls April 30th for our last frost date, but I’m hoping we’re in the clear! If we get a scare, I’ll put some greenhouse plastic over my raised beds.

Next month, we’ll have the chance to meet a local, up-and-coming wood crafter, John Gregory. He’ll be sharing about what makes a Jointer a Jointer, talking through some tools of the traditional wood crafting trade, and giving you some ideas of how you could get started. Tune in!
